Barter?

Barter? What the heck is barter? It's actually very simple and everybody does it but most don't realize it, some do tons of it and are very successful because of it. Here are some simple examples.

Example #1; You borrow your friends extra car while yours is in the shop for the day, in exchange you offer to fill it with gas and wash it for him, wow! You both benefit, his car was going to be just sitting there anyway, he got some free gas and a cleaner car and you saved money on a rental and the hassle!

Example #2; Your friend has a condo and the coast and needs someone there to receive some new furniture being delivered. You would like to spend the weekend at the coast, Hey! You'll head down there and spend a couple days at his place, be there for the delivery to make sure all goes well, check to see how well the AC is working after the service call was done last month and maybe leave the fridge stocked up as a thank you surprise. You get a free place for the weekend at the coast at no cost, your friend has someone he trusts manage the furniture delivery and can take care of his family business obligations he couldn't get out of, Wow! This barter thing's not bad!

Example #3; This is where a business mind starts to kicks in. While you were down there at your buddy's place at the coast you met one of his neighbors that needs help with his computer system and that it just so happens is what you do for a living, work on and fix computers. So now you're helping him with his computers both home and at work back in San Antonio or wherever and have another place to stay at the coast when he's not there and your buddies place is not available. A win win for everybody!

Example #4: You're in for your regular annual checkup with your family doctor and in chit chat mention the great barter/trade deals you've worked out recently. Your doctor say's "Barter, sure my clinic has been doing that for years and in fact we're a member of what's called a Trade Exchange!" He goes on to explain that members of the exchange learn of him being a member, come to him vs spending their cash else where, conserving it for things you usually can't trade for like you're mortgage payment. The doctor is paying his employees whether they are busy or not, the lights, equipment, etc. cost him whether they are being used or not so why not maximize there use by getting barter/trade dollars for them which can in turn used for employee perks, flowers for his wife from the flower shop down the street who's a member also, etc, etc, etc.

Wow! Barter!!

These examples are just the tip of the iceberg and the possibilities are endless.
